Relay
Both races in the 56-26 format may also be contested as a pairs relay, with teams consisting of two athletes. Pairs may be formed in the men’s, women’s, or mixed categories. The race will be divided into two stages, with a mandatory changeover in a designated area marked out by the organisers.
- For the Cortina 56K, the transition area will be located at the refreshment point in Loc. Fiames (after 28 km and 1500 d+).
- For the Cortina 26K, the transition area will be located in the Duca d’Aosta area (after 10 km and 1,180 m of elevation gain) along the descent from Rif. Pomedes.
The handoff must take place through physical contact between the two runners within the designated area, under penalty of a penalty or disqualification. Each team is responsible for ensuring that the handoff is performed correctly and that safety rules are followed along the course.
The mandatory equipment for relay runners will be the same as for individual races, depending on the race distance, and both athletes must have it.
