The race
CORTINA 56-26 is the new trail running event that connects the most iconic landmarks of our mountains along an imaginary line stretching from 1956 to 2026. An initiative born from the thrilling stories of the 1956 Winter Olympic Games and the enthusiasm of having experienced Milan-Cortina 2026 as protagonists, with the aim of leaving an indelible and tangible mark of this dual experience.
Those taking part in this event will run through the places that have shaped the history of world sport, becoming protagonists on trails, through woods, along ridges and across iconic vistas – the setting for the most important competitions winter sports have ever seen.
56 km or 26 km: choose your distance and push your limits.
Every step is a journey into the memory of sport and of a community that lives and thrives on it every day.
You won’t just run a trail.
You will run through Olympic legends.
The 26KM race starts in the centre of Cortina d’Ampezzo, right beneath the church, and finishes in Zuel, at the Olympic Ski Jump. The route passes through some of the main Olympic venues, including the Olympic Ice Rink, the Eugenio Monti bobsleigh track, Col Drusciè, the Olympia delle Tofane and the Zuel Ski Jump.
The 56KM race is actually around 56,5km long and, like the 26KM race, starts in the town centre beneath the Campanile and finishes at the Trampolino Italia. Along the route, it passes several Olympic venues, including the Faloria Vitelli slope – “Ilio Colli”, the Campo cross-country track and the Zuel Ski Jump, not forgetting the Olympic Stadium, the Eugenio Monti Track and the Olympia delle Tofane.
Two routes designed to offer an engaging, challenging and scenic experience, combining historic and modern trails and showcasing the area’s natural heritage in an Olympic spirit
